Summer evening opening
Explore the Roman Baths in the
evenings with Tuesday Time Tables
August 2011
A series of interesting evening sessions will be held at Bath
& North East Somerset Council’s Roman Baths during its
late-night opening in July and August.
The Tuesday Time Tables, from 19 July to 30 August, give
visitors the chance to get hands-on with archaeology. Members of
the Council’s Roman Baths team and volunteers will be available to
show and explain objects to visitors.
Each week the team aims to showcase different aspects of the
Roman Baths and its archaeological collection. On Tuesday 2 August
it will explore how the Roman Baths were built and Russell Coates,
a potter from Frome, will be demonstrating tile
making.
Susan Fox, collections manager at the Roman Baths, said: “This
is a chance for people to get hands-on with archaeology and to see
and touch a variety of objects – large and small – which make Bath
& North East Somerset Council's collection designated as having
national importance.”
The Tuesday Time Tables run from 6pm to 8pm on 19 and 26 July,
and 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 August.
The world-famous Roman Baths will stay open to visitors every
evening throughout July and August until 10pm, with last admission
at 9pm. As it is managed by Bath & North East Somerset Council,
entry to the Roman Baths is free to local residents on production
of a Discovery Card or other proof of residence. Normal entry
charges apply to everyone else.
